Why Walk?

  1. Honor Your Loved One and Be a WalkStar

Alzheimer’s Tennessee recognizes three important groups of WalkStars at the Walk to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory. Paying tribute to our Tennessee heritage, they are represented by the state’s Tri-Stars and help to remind all of us why we walk. Choose the color that best describes your connection to the cause.

Purple = You are passionate about supporting the cause and the vision to Make Alzheimer's A Memory.

Orange = You are caring for someone living with Alzheimer's and dementia and are the guiding lights for our loved ones.

White = someone living with Alzheimer's and dementia who inspires all of us.

  2. Incentives — Walk to WIN!

Walkers who raise $50+ and sign up by the pre-registration deadline will receive a souvenir t-shirt at the event. Registered walkers who raise $100 or more will also receive a special incentive item at the walk. A third gift from Alzheimer’s Tennessee is awarded on the day of the event to registered walkers who collect $200+.Purple Olympic Incentives PNG for website.png

FAQs

Q: How do I earn an Alzheimer’s Tennessee WALK t-shirt & incentives?

A: To be guaranteed a t-shirt available at the event, you must pre-register by the deadline and raise or donate $50 or more. Special souvenir incentives are also awarded at the event to WALKers who raise $100+ and $200+. Top Prizes for individuals and teams who raise the most money are awarded after the FUNdraising deadline.

Q: Do I have to register in order to Walk?

A: Yes! We want to plan for you to join us and need every walker to sign a standard waiver through their official registration. Walkers may register online or by downloading and turning in a registration form, also found in the printed brochure.

Q: How much does it cost to register to Walk?

A: There is no registration fee for the Walk. However, every walker is encouraged to make a personal donation and commit to raising funds to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory.

Q: Do I need to register my children to Walk?

A: Yes, children should be registered. Parents/guardians can register children online or complete the offline registration form.

Q: How do I turn in money?

A: To ensure you receive credit for raising the funds, a completed contribution form should accompany donations. This form is found HERE and in the printed brochure. You can duplicate this form if needed. Funds with completed contribution forms can be turned in at the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory event OR mailed/delivered to the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Main Office, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Checks should be made payable to Alzheimer’s Tennessee

Q: How do I get my offline donations to show up on my personal fundraising Web page?

A: Once registered, checks and cash can be entered online from your participant center as “unconfirmed gifts”. Actual funds should be accompanied by a completed contribution form for each walker and can be turned in at the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Walk to Make Alzheimer’s a Memory event OR mailed/delivered to the Alzheimer’s Tennessee Main Office, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919. Checks should be made payable to Alzheimer’s Tennessee. Please note that it may take our small team several weeks to process the donations.

Q: Why should I keep track of each team members’ fundraising efforts?

A: It’s important how you turn in your contributions. If you lump all of your money together as a team, team members may not receive the incentive items for which they are individually eligible (ie t-shirts). You may choose to divide funds raised together and turn them in with a contribution form for each team member indicating how much each person raised. Ultimately, your team total is determined by adding up all team members’ totals.

Q: How do I volunteer on the day of the Alzheimer’s WALK?

A: Register online by the pre-registration deadline to receive a volunteer t-shirt. Volunteers will hear from Alzheimer’s Tennessee the week before the walk with “assignments” for the day of the event.
